By playing music together in ensembles and orchestras, we aim to grow confidence, respect, teamwork and aspiration in the children, young people and communities we work with. We deliver our work through six Big Noise programmes: in Raploch & Fallin in Stirling, Govanhill in Glasgow, Torry in Aberdeen, Douglas in Dundee and Wester Hailes in Edinburgh. At Big Noise Raploch & Fallin, you will be part of a team who work with children from pre-school, primary school, secondary school and adults. The team are creative in designing and introducing new ways of learning as we use the orchestra to grow children’s confidence, respect, aspiration, drive and understanding. As part of the team, you will develop innovative ways to engage children and families, including home visits and community performances. This includes instrumental lessons, general musicianship sessions, and group teaching in our afterschool programme, as well as home visits and community performances. As a Senior Musician/Teacher you will support the Head of Centre by contributing to the shaping of our work in the Raploch and Fallin communities by demonstrating best practice in musical delivery, leading on trips and events, and responsibility for one of the following portfolio areas: learning & teaching, youth voice, priority families, pathways or community engagement. Two days a week Radley College is seeking an enthusiastic and skilled trumpet teacher to work with approximately 14 pupils. In addition to individual teaching, there will be opportunities to lead brass ensembles and support larger ensemble rehearsals through sectional coaching. This term-time position is offered on two days per week. As well as knowledge of teaching strategies, teaching repertoire and adaptability to the individual, the successful applicant will show an active interest and insight into current instrumental teaching, research and development, and in pursuing their own professional development as an instrumental teacher. As a Musician in Residence, you will play an integral role in supporting the department's extensive musical provision. The primary focus of your role will involve music composition and arrangement, while also supporting the department's co-curricular programme, both musically and administratively. Depending on your instrumental specialism, there may also be opportunities to rehearse, accompany and conduct ensembles. You will provide composition support to students studying GCSE and A Level Music, deliver one-to-one theory and aural tuition and assist with the planning, organisation and delivery of Music Department concerts, performances and events. About you This role would suit a capable and enthusiastic musician, with a degree in Music (or equivalent experience), with excellent knowledge of a broad range of musical genres. You will have proven experience of composing and arranging for a wide variety of ensembles and instrumentations, alongside confidence using notation and music production software, including Sibelius and Logic Pro. You will also possess a strong understanding of harmony, composing and arranging, together with the ability to perform to a high standard as an instrumentalist and/or vocalist. Strong practical musicianship, confidence in leading rehearsals and the ability to inspire and support young musicians are also essential for success in this role. We would like to engage an inspiring, committed and highly-skilled Visiting Music Teacher (VMT): Trumpet, to provide services to our first-class Music Department. The Music Department is well resourced and, as such, there are many opportunities to support extra¬curricular activities through additional group coaching and to accompany concerts and pupils at the direction of the Head of Music and Head of Choirs, Ensembles and Performances. VMTs are contracted by the Head of Music and Head of Choirs, Ensembles and Performances. They are responsible to the Head of Music and Head of Choirs, Ensembles and Performances, in all matters relating to performance, ensembles and pupil progress and the day-to-day management of their timetables. The VMT will be an outstanding teacher with a passion for inspiring our youngest musicians to perform to the highest possible standard, as well as being an active performer in their own right. VMTs are self-employed and invoice parents directly each term. They are expected to communicate with parents to arrange lessons, organise payment and report on progress.
