The Bottesini Competition, founded in 1989 by Maestro Franco Petracchi, is the most significant international competition for double bass players worldwide. It celebrates Giovanni Bottesini, the most important double bassist in history and composer. The competition recognizes young talented musicians and winners have gone on to key positions in major international orchestras. The 2026 edition (9th edition) will be held in Crema, Italy.
