At Big Noise Douglas, you will be part of a team who work with children from pre-school, primary school, secondary school and adults. The team are creative in designing and introducing new ways of learning as we use the orchestra to grow children’s confidence, respect, aspiration, drive and understanding. As part of the team, you will develop innovative ways to engage children and families, including home visits and community performances. This includes instrumental lessons, general musicianship sessions, and group teaching in our afterschool programme, as well as home visits and community performances. We have a vacancy for a Senior Musician/Teacher (Upper Strings) within our team in Big Noise Douglas, Dundee. As a Senior Musician/Teacher you will support the Head of Centre by contributing to the shaping of our work in the (Douglas) community by demonstrating best practice in musical delivery, leading on trips and events, and responsibility for one of the following portfolio areas: learning & teaching, youth voice, priority families, pathways or community engagement. You will also provide leadership and support for Big Noise Musicians, enabling them to deliver the best outcomes for the children, young people and community members in the programme. You will have experience and success in taking on leadership roles and responsibilities, along with experience of problem solving and working in a dynamic/fast moving environment. You will also be educated to degree level or equivalent qualification and have professional performing experience. Working with large and varied groups of children and young people is essential, along with a track record of success in teaching children and young people on your specialist instrument. You will also have a belief in the benefits that a social programme such as Big Noise / Sistema Scotland can have. This post is offered on a permanent, all-year-round basis, working between 4 and 5 days (i.e. 4 days Monday to Thursday, 9am -
